Obituary for LeRoy Thomas Whiteman

LeRoy T. Whiteman, 86, of Claysville, Pa. died unexpectedly at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 in his home.
He was born June 4, 1928 in Canton Twp., Washington County, Pa. a son of the late Harry and Martha Martin Whiteman.
Mr. Whiteman was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a 50 year member of the Claysville American Legion Post 639, a member of the Washington V.F.W., and also a member of the National Association of Fisherman and was a former member of the Claysville V.F.D.
Mr. Whiteman was an avid fisherman as long as his health permitted, also enjoyed hunting and working word search puzzles.
He was employed as a truck driver by the former Forbes Steel plant in Canonsburg, the Reisch Trucking Company of New Jersey, and retired as a driver with JB Hunt Trucking Company in 1999 after a total of 54 years of truck driving. He formerly served as the Chief of Police for the borough of Claysville, served as a Donegal Twp. constable and was last employed as a guard at Baily Mine.
On October 12, 1958 he married Karen Mae Sis Whiteman who died April 24, 2007.
Surviving are a son, Jamie, husband of Nancy Whiteman of Claysville; four daughters, Donna, wife of Donald Kelsall of Claysville, Kelly, wife of Matt Tackentien of Broken Arrow, OK., and Patsy, wife of Donald Malone of Sheppardsville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, D.J. Kelsall, Jr., Brittany Kelsall, Madison, Megan and Samantha Tackentien, Michael Upton, Moses Malone and Josh Nichols; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are, a brother, William Whiteman who was killed in the Korean War; a sister, Betty Jane Whiteman.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public services, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville American Legion Post 639, PO Box M, Claysville, Pa. 15323. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
