Obituary for Karen Whiteman
Karen M. "Sis" Whiteman, 68, of Claysville, Pa. died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2007 in the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. She was born November 18, 1938 in Claysville, Pa. a daughter of James Fairfield and Linda Ellen Shriver Slyder and had resided in Claysville all of her life.Mrs. Whiteman was a 1956 graduate of Claysville High School.She was a 43 year member of the Claysville V.F.D. Auxiliary where she had served as the President for several years and was a member of the Claysville American Legion Auxiliary where she participated in building Christmas parade floats.Mrs. Whiteman was a member of the Claysville Bunko Club and enjoyed crossword puzzles, computer poker and wallpapering.She was last employed by the former Exit 2 Truck Stop and Dr. Prideaux's Medical office, both in Claysville.On October 12, 1958, she married Le Roy Thomas Whiteman who survives.Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Jamie Whiteman, and Donna, wife of Donald Kelsall, all of Claysville, Kelly, wife of Matt Tackentien of Cartersville, Ga.; three step children, Patsy, wife of Donald Malone of Sheppardsville, Ky., Mary, wife of James Holloway of Jeffersonville, IN. and Harry "Tubby", husband of Judy Whiteman of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Madison and Megan Tackenstien, D.J. Kelsall, Jr. and Brittany Kelsall; five step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; four sisters, Donna Lou Slyder and Nancy, wife of Frank Dobrzynski, all of Claysville, Susan, wife of Sonny Malson of West Alexander, Pa. and Kim Carter of Washington; two brothers, Jake Slyder of Dallas Pike, W.Va. and Kenneth, husband of Barbara Slyder of Galcondo, IL.Deceased is her brother, James L. Slyder.
