June E. Amos, 83, of West Finley Twp. Greene Co. Pa. died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. after a battle with a cancer related illness.She was born August 22, 1926 in West Finley Twp. Washington Co. Pa. a daughter of the late Okey Ellsworth and Alma Florence Raymer Sprowls and had resided in the West Finley area all her life.Mrs. Amos was an active member of the Nebo United Methodist Church and was serving as secretary at the time of her death, was a member of the former United Methodist Women.She enjoyed and was proud of her cooking ability which she shared with her church and community, enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family and grandchildren and gardening.Mrs. Amos was a former adult leader with local Brownies, Cub Scout and 4-H Club and was a 1945 graduate of the former Claysville (Pa.) High School.She was last employed as a cook at the Graysville Elementary School by the West Greene School District for over 40 years prior to retiring in 1996. On October 9, 1945 she married Glenn Irvin Amos who died December 30, 1994.Surviving are two daughters, Carol Joan, wife of Paul Neely of Proctor, W.Va. and Robin, wife of David Archer of West Finley Twp.; a son, Roger L., husband of Mary Jane Amos of Ashland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tiffany, wife of Thomas Morgan, Hilary Amos, Benjamin and Joshua Archer; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are two sisters, Jane Salsbury Gray and Betty Porter; a brother, Ray Sprowls. Mrs. Amos was the last of her immediate family.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nebo U.M. Church, c/o 390 Day Rd., West Finley, Pa. 15377.
