Josephine Nielsen

Josephine Elizabeth Nielsen, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of Waynesburg, Pa. died at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2003 in the home of her daughter in Jacksonville, Florida after being seriously ill since April.She was born July 26, 1916 in Wheeling, W.Va. a daughter of Eddy Boroughs and Grace Marie Huffman McNeely.Mrs. Nielsen had resided in Rockville, MD for approximately 23 years prior to moving to Waynesburg in 1983 and has resided in Florida since May.She was member of the Throckmorton United Methodist Church at East View.Mrs. Nielsen was a 1934 graduate of Center Township High School.She was formerly employed as a secretary on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and was last employed as a secretary/supervisor for Vitro Laboratories, a government contractor, in Rockville, MD. for approximately 23 years prior to her retirement in 1983.Surviving are one daughter, Marie Shelley Atnip of Jacksonville, Fl. with whom she has made her home since May 2003; four grandchildren, Skyler, Marie and Matthew Atnip and Angela Atnip Baxley; one great grandchild, Joseph Atnip; one niece, Jane E. Hull of Rogersville, Pa. and one nephew, Edward R. McNeely of Waynesburg, Pa.Deceased is a brother, Charles Luie McNeely who died August 8, 1996.Mrs. Nielsen was the last of her immediate family.
