John Wright

John W. Wright, 69, of Waynesburg, Pa., and formerly of Nineveh, died at 9:07 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa., after battling Huntingtons Disease for the past five years. He was born August 4, 1944 in Nineveh, Pa., a son of the late Clarence Albert and Leona Icadore Ealy Wright. Mr. Wright was a 1962 graduate of West Greene High School and a 1969 graduate of Advance Schools, Inc., Chicago, Il. He was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church and attended the Cornerstone Covenant Church as long as his health permitted. Mr. Wright was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4th Class in Company C, 1st Batalion, 52nd Infantry, 1st Armored Division. He was employed by the former Bishop Creamery in Waynesburg, Pa., the Alcoa plant in Cleveland, Oh., National Annealing Box Co. in Washington, the sawmill in Nineveh, and briefly with Rush Funeral Home, Inc., in Rogersville, and was the former owner and operator of Wright Sharp All, and was last employed as a janitor with the former Alltel Phone Co. in Waynesburg for 16 years prior to retiring in 2002. Mr. Wright was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge 623 F AM and the American Legion Post 330 in Waynesburg, Pa. He enjoyed hunting, stamp and coin collecting, pitching horse shoes. On June 3, 1967 he married Wanda Faye Kiger who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Saundra, wife of Ian McGrath of Carnegie and Renee Wright of Washington, Pa; a grandchild, Brendon McGrath; a brother, Herbert C., husband of Joanne Wright of Carmichaels; his extended family, Michael and Eileen White and Tyfani and Erick White, of Morgantown, WV.; several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother, Albert Blaine Wright who died April 16, 2010. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of a memorial service, Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. with Pastor Ted Cukryznski officiating. Interment will be private. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Huntingtons Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave., Suite 902, New York, Ny., 10018 and the website is www.hdsa.org.
