John Weir Watson

John W. Watson, 88, of Aleppo, Pa. died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Cameron Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Cameron, W.Va. after being in failing health for the past four months.

He was born June 20, 1927 in Aleppo a son of the late James Stiles and Nettie Grace Woodruff Watson and had resided in the Aleppo area all his life and was a 1946 graduate of the former Aleppo High School.

Mr. Watson was a member of the Windy Gap Independent Church at Aleppo where he served as an all-around maintenance man as long as his health permitted.

He was employed by Local 798 Pipeliners Unioin out of Tulsa, Ok., as a journeyman for 36 years prior to retiring in 1985.

On August 6, 1948 he married Ava Lee Phillips who died November 5, 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Lane Watson, companion of Judy Frye of Cameron, W.Va., Neil, husband of Cindy Watson of Wind Ridge and Gerald, husband of Elaine Watson of Finleyville; three grandchildren, Amy Simms, Keith and Lori Watson; five great grandchildren; five sisters, Beulah Kennedy of Cameron, Elizabeth Minear of Corpus Christy, Texas, Margaret, wife of Charles Knotts of Atlanta, Ga., Kathryn, wife of Sam Harvey Indianapolis, In. and Janet Frye of Waynesburg; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are a grandson, Robert (Robbie) Neil Watson; three brothers, Ford, James Leon and Jennings Watson.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 with Pastor Jacob Judy officiating. Interment will be private in Windy Gap Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Windy Gap Independent Church, c/o Anita Ross, 1039 Windy Gap Rd., Aleppo, Pa. 15310.
