John Pierson

John Pierson, 87, of Holbrook, Pa. R.D.#1 died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 in the Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, Pa.He was born October 21, 1916 in New Freeport, Pa. a son of George Washington and Onie Winters Pierson and had resided in Jackson Township, Greene County, Pa. most of his life.He attended the Crabapple Community Church.Mr. Pierson was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U.S. Army as a private first class with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry, 8th Infantry Divisioin and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded four bronze service stars and the Good Conduct Medal.He formerly served as a Jackson Township supervisor for 16 years and was employed as a laborer in the construction of the Ryerson Dam at Ryerson Station State Park and was a self employed farmer most of his working life.Mr. Pierson was married to Nancy Bungard Lohr Pierson, Lucille Grinage Pierson Pierson and Josephine Ackley Lough Pierson who are all deceased.Surviving are a daughter, Wanda (Beck) McClellan of Holbrook, R.D.#1; one brother, Kenneth L. Pierson, Sr. of Newton Falls, Ohio; three sisters, Emma Pierce of Slovan, Pa., Goldie Kimble of Irondale, Ohio and Susan Miller of Richmond, Ohio; four grandsons, Rusty, Randy, Rick and Rodney McClellan; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several step-children; several step-great grandchildren.Deceased are four brothers, Frank, Orval, James and George W. Pierson, Jr.; three sisters, Marie Pierson, Mary Crawford and Pearl Pierce.Graveside military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 330, V.F.W. Post 4793 and D.A.V. Post 123 all of Waynesburg, Pa.
