John Carter Sr

John C. Carter, Sr., 74, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Jackson Twp. Greene Co. died at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in his home.He was born September 24, 1936 in Jackson Twp. a son of the late Harry L. and Violet D. Phillips Carter and had resided in Greene Co. all his life.Mr. Carter enjoyed fishing, going for drives in the country and the time he was able to spend with his family and grandchildren as long as his health permitted.He was employed by his late father in gas and water well drilling and was employed as a mechanic by the former Haney Olds-Pontiac-Buick from 1962 until 1989 and was last employed by the former John Howard Motors until 1992 when ill health forced his retirement.Mr. Carter is survived by his companion of the past 46 years, Emma Jean Conaway Victor; four sons, John C. Carter, Jr., husband of Donna Carter, Donald Victor, Ronald Victor and Todd, husband of Samantha Victor, all of Waynesburg; two daughters, Johnna, wife of Michael Rice of Bristoria and Cindy Yeager of Waynesburg; a brother, Roger, husband of Ginger Carter of Wayno, Pa.; a sister, Marie Kelley of Uniontown; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; children of his companion that he raised, Phyllis Hooper of Washington, Walter (Junior) Victor and Diane Negley both of Waynesburg and Pam, wife of Rodney Lockette of Clarksville; two aunts, Vanie Tedrow of Waynesburg and Olive Temple of Ohio; 17 grandchildren of his companion; five great grandchildren of his companion.Deceased in addition to his parents is a great grandchild, Riley Wise; three brothers, William, David and Gerald Carter; one sister, Violet Bauer.
