Obituary for Jeffrey Lee Cozart

Jeffrey Lee Cozart, age 46, of Uniontown, PA, formerly of Wileyville, WV, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

Born May 21, 1971, in New Martinsville, WV, he is the son of French Vernon (June) Cozart and Judith Ann (James) (Judge) Rizor.

Jeff was a 1989 graduate of Hundred High School. He was a well-known and established photographer beginning his varied career with the Wetzel Chronicle as both a photographer and sports writer. Jeff earned his paramedics license in his mid-twenties to pursue his lifelong passion to serve those in need. He worked first for Marion County Rescue then later for American EMS, Marclay EMS, Tri-County EMS, Fairchance EMS, Somerset EMS, Wileyville and Hundred Firefighter and EMT squads. Jeff’s skills in the paramedic and EMT field lead him to teach continuing education to various paramedics and EMT’s. He earned multiple Life Saver awards during his career that expanded over 30 years.

His desire to be of service to his community led him to work for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy and later as a Sergeant for the Greene County Jail. Photography remained a passion of Jeff’s and he opened and operated his own photography business which bore his name, Jeff Cozart Photography.

Jeff was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, WVU Mountaineers, and the Hundred Hornets. He combined his love of sports with doing photo shoots for local sports teams. He could be found regularly attending sporting events for work and for pleasure.

When Jeff wasn’t working as a rescuer or at a sporting event, he would be traveling for his photography business. Some of his favorite places to go included Las Vegas, Chicago, Florida and New Jersey while taking photographs and pursuing his passion. He enjoyed dining at Primanti’s, attending Country Music concerts, playing poker and hosting get-togethers with family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his parents, a son, Austin Lee Cozart of Mannington, WV; a brother, Jason (Carrie Cavanaugh) Cozart of Waynesburg, PA; step-sisters, Renee Goddard of Spencer, WV, Jennifer (Yjay) Eller of New Martinsville, WV, Melissa (Jason) Yeater of New Freeport, PA and Debbie (Murray) Hoy of Waynesburg, PA; step-brother, Jeff (Jennifer) Rizor of Waynesburg, PA.
