James D. “Shorty” Keller, Sr., age 70, of Waynesburg, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 while under the care of the Washington Hospital.
Born on August 18, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, he is the son of the late Edwin A. and Emma L. (White) Keller.
James resided in Waynesburg and Sycamore his whole life. He served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1966. After 25 years, he retired from Gateway Coal Mine as a mechanic. He was a member of the Nebo United Methodist Church. For many years, James served as a fireman for the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company. James was an avid outdoorsman; he hunted raccoons and deer. He loved horses and coaching youth baseball. James was known as a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His undying love for his family and three granddaughters was always known. James watched and followed his granddaughters with their 4-H animals. He was a true family man. James never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beloved Husband of 49 years to Barbara J. Keller, of Waynesburg; Father of James D. (Joe Ziots) Keller, of New Salem, and Steven D. (Jamie) Keller, of Graysville; Brother of John (Norma Lee) Keller, of Cleveland, OH; Dear Grandfather of Alexes Faith, Destiny Marie and Sadie Lynette; Step-Grandfather of Chase Bonnema and Brittany Bonnema. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Edwin Keller and three sisters, Ruth Deter, Dorothy Deter and Nancy Rush.
Friends and Family are welcome on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 12-6 P.M. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., where a Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. Cynthia Deter, officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359. (724) 499-5181.
