J. Mcgill

J. William "Bill" McGill, 71, of Claysville, Pa. died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa.He was born October 21, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pa. a son of James Stewart and Hazel Chambers McGill and had resided in Claysville and Washington areas most of his life.Mr. McGill was a 1953 graduate of Claysville High School and attended the former West Liberty State Teachers College. He was a member of the East Buffalo Presbyterian Church.Mr. McGill was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Marines Corps.He was a member of Washington Lodge # 164 of F. A. M., Claysville American Legion Post #639 and the Sheffield V.F.W. Post 8755 and the former Squaw Hollow Hunting Club.Mr. McGill had a career in insurance sales most of his working life and was last employed in building maintenance by Cooper Industries in Canonsburg prior to retiring in 2006.He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and socializing with friends and family.On December 25, 1957, he married Carolyn L. Ghrist who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Siobhan McGill of Las Vegas, Nevada; a son, James S., husband of Nancy McGill of Washington, Pa.; one step brother, Robert, husband of Betty Sprowls of St. Louis, Missouri; one step sister, Barbara Mjos of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Dane Horton, Collyn and Durham Morgan, Patrick and Megan McGill.
