J. Benjamin (Benny) Clutter, 81, of West Finley, Pa. (East Finley Twp.) died unexpectedly at 9:49 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 in his home.He was born August 15, 1928 in Morris Twp. (Sparta), Washington Co. Pa. a son of the late J.B. and Jeannetta Gail Sprowls Clutter.Mr. Clutter was a life member and the oldest living member of the Windy Gap Presbyterian Church in West Finley.He enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family and grandchildren, and also enjoyed hunting ginseng, coon hunting and country drives.Mr. Clutter was a self employed farmer all his life and was last employed as a forklift operator by the former Ball Glass in Washington for 34 years prior to retiring at the time of the plant closing. He had an extensive collection of Indian arrowheads which were all collected from his farm and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.On July 17, 1948 he married Marjorie Jane Jones who survives.Also surviving are a son, Phillip, husband of Terry Clutter of West Finley; three daughters, Cathy, wife of Bill Hewitt of Taylorstown, Jeannetta, wife of Randy Martin and Teresa, wife of Robert Scherich both of West Finley; two sisters, Karaleene, wife of Lee Danley and Joy Mahan both of West Finley; 10 grandchildren, Andy, Chris and Joe Clutter, Brian Hancher, Nicholas Martin, Rachel Martin Gerkin, Danielle Scherich Reese, Addison, Matthew and Samuel Scherich; two great grandchildren, Brent and Alyssa Clutter.Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother, Floyd Clutter. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wind Gap Presbyterian Church, 132 Burnsville Ridge Rd., West Finley, Pa. 15377.
