Helen J. George, 77, of Republic, Pa. and formerly of Waynesburg, Pa. died at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, surrounded by her family, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Donald George, Jr. and Darlyn George after a lengthy illness.She was born October 13, 1934 in Wayne Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a daughter of the late Ira C. "Hicabud" and Emma Wise Moore and had resided in the Waynesburg area most of her life prior to moving to RepublicMrs. George was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Waynesburg.She was a 1952 graduate of Waynesburg High School.Mrs. George was a former EMT with the Waynesburg V.F.D. and was last employed by U.S. Steel at Cumberland Mine for several years prior to her retirement and was a member of the U.M.W. Local 2300.She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Post 4793 and the Moose Lodge both in Waynesburg and a former member of the American Legion Post 330 Auxiliary and the former Eagles Lodge both in Waynesburg.Mrs. George enjoyed sewing and the Indian culture and was a regular contributor to the Fayette County Humane Society.Surviving are her son, Donald E. George, Jr., husband of Darlyn George of Republic with whom she made her home since 2005; a daughter, Linda S. George of Rices Landing; two sisters, Catherine Strawn of Gransbury, Texas and Ilene Tharp of Bethel Park; four grandchildren, Donald R. (Bobbie) and Joshua W. George, Amy Keller, Ellie Tomasek; three great grandchildren, Chad DeGroen, Laurel and Abigail George; three step great grandchildren, Hunter, Arianna and Brianna Barrow.Deceased in addition to her parents is a brother, Everette Lee Moore who died in 1997.The family suggests memorial contributions by made to Fayette Home Care, Uniontown, Pa.
