Harry G. Thornburg,73, of Washington (Buffalo Twp), Pa. died at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa.He was born August 4, 1936 in Triadelphia, W.Va. a son of the late Daniel Russell and Margaret Elizabeth Williams Thornburg and had resided in Buffalo Twp. since 1971.Mr. Thornburg was a former member of the Claysville United Methodist Church and was a member of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church at the time of his death.He was a 1954 graduate of the former Claysville High School.Mr. Thornburg was a former member and past president of the McGuffey School Board, a member of the Washington Moose Lodge #22 and the American Legion Post 907 in Taylorstown.He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War where he served with the U.S. Army as a SP 5 in the 516th Ordinance Company.Mr. Thornburg was employed as a millwright at the former Washington Steel Corp. for 31 years prior to retiring in 1999.On September 7, 1962 he married Priscilla Ann Koscho who survives.Also surviving are a son, Gary, husband of Cindi Thornburg of Hertford, N. Carolina; two daughters, Heather Ann, wife of Richard Hunter of West Alexander and Margaret Louise (Maggie), wife of Thomas Balistreri of Washington; a sister, Vera (Dutch) Sprowls of Claysville and a brother, Martin, husband of Ivona Thornburg of Castleberry, Fl.; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother, Daniel R. Thornburg.Family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
