Harold Richard Welling

Harold Richard Welling, age 67, of Graysville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at home with his family by his side.

Born March 5, 1951, in Wind Ridge, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel Clara (Ward) Welling.

Harold was a long-time resident of Graysville, PA. He graduated from West Greene High School in 1969 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Waynesburg, PA. On May 27, 1972, he married the love of his life, Phyllis D. Moninger and they shared 46 wonderful years together. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially for deer and turkey. For him, deer hunting began in summer when he started to scout for the biggest buck and continued through numerous spotting trips into deer season, his favorite time of year. Harold also enjoyed carpentry, gardening, NASCAR races and his yearly pilgrimage to the Indy 500, football games, going on trips, and spending time with his family.

During the final 25 years of his career, Harold worked maintenance for the National Guard Armory in Waynesburg, PA, and was the maintenance foreman at the Washington Area Parks and Recreation in Washington, PA. Before those jobs, he worked as a carpenter in the 1980s. Harold was a very skilled handyman and carpenter and always felt fortunate that he found a career he was able to enjoy.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis D. Welling, of Graysville, PA; two wonderful children who adored him, Jason Lee (Eunah Park) Welling, of Bridgeville, PA, and Amy Elizabeth (Brad) Hartman, of Waynesburg, PA; two precious grandchildren, Caleb James and Abigail Elizabeth Hartman; one sister, Mary Ann (Bob) Postlethwaite, of Wind Ridge, PA; one brother, Benjamin (Lonna) Welling, of Cameron, WV; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Welling, and one sister, Harriett Welling.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 4–8 P.M. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor David Lake, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Graysville, PA.
