Obituary for Grover Brownlee

Grover Lehman Brownlee, 72, of East Finley Township, died at 12:06 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004 in the Canonsburg General Hospital emergency room after being seriously ill for the past month.He was born February 27, 1932 in East Finley Township a son of Baum Blaine and Zona Belle Lindley Brownlee and has been a resident of East Finley Township most of his life.Mr. Brownlee was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church where he formerly served as a trustee and served on the pastor parish relations committee.He was a 28-year employee of the former Brockway Glass Plant #7 in Washington and was employed by Owens Illinois Glass in Lapel, IN. for three years prior to his retirement in November 1987. He has been employed by Am Guard Security at Baily Mine in Richhill Township for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Glass Bottle Blowers Association.Mr. Brownlee worked the family farm most of his life and was a Farmall tractor enthusiast and enjoyed gardening, and he and his wife were the caretakers at the East Finley Park for 7 years.He attended Claysville High School.Mr. Brownlee was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Army as a sergeant with Company I, 65th Infantry Regiment in Korea.On December 4, 1955 he married Joann Brownlee Brownlee who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Ann Yates of East Finley Township and Janice L. Brownlee at home; two brothers, Sherman and Jerry Brownlee both of East Finley Township; one sister, Ethel Boggs of Wheeling, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother Baum Junior Brownlee who died December 12, 2003.Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Claysville American Legion Post 639.Arrangments are being handled by the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
