Grant L. Miller, 85, of Center Twp. and formerly of New Freeport, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born March 14, 1922 in Springhill Twp., Greene County, Pa. a son of Lloyd Park and Nelle Anderson Miller and had resided in New Freeport most of his life prior to moving to Center Twp. in 1995.Mr. Miller had attended the former Windy Gap Church of God.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a PFC with the Anti Tank Co. 121st Infantry. He participated in the Battle of Normandy and he served in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received four Bronze Service Stars and the Good Conduct Medal and was a social member of the American Legion Post #120 in Hundred, W.Va.He enjoyed spending time keeping up with his yard, hanging out at a local service station with his friends and his former Army buddies and going to flea markets.Mr. Miller was a helping hand on a farm and prior to his draft worked in a Lordstown, Ohio government arsenal factory, and was formerly employed in pipeline construction, prior to purchasing the Log Cabin Service Station as owner/operator for 13 years and was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier prior to retiring in 1982.On January 5, 1946, he married Mabel Ferne Hughes Miller who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Garrett R., husband of Sue Ealy Miller of Center Twp., a daughter, Jeanne M., wife of Jospeh Katruska of Waynesburg; one sister, Lillian Marling of Garrison; one brother, Karroll, husband of Mardelle Miller of Deep Valley; six grandchildren, Shelley Morris, Mark Miller, Joe, Jeffrey, Joshua and Pamela Katruska; five great grandchildren, Breanna, Caleb and Colby Morris, Dylan Miller and Jillian Katruska..Deceased are four brothers, Howard, Earnest, Forrest and Kay Miller.
