Grace Wood

G. Eileen Wood, 84, of Waynesburg (Eastview), Pa. died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg after being in failing health for the past several months.She was born August 24, 1927 in Holbrook (Jackson Twp.), Greene County, Pa. a daughter of the late James Leland and Dora Marie Hughes Nelson and had resided in the Eastview area most of her life.Mrs. Wood was a member of the Throckmorton United Methodist Church at Eastview where she formerly served as church treasure and was a member and former president of the Laidies Aide of the church.She was also a member and president of the former GASCO club of Columbia Gas Corp., and formerly served as Judge of Elections for Franklin Twp.-West, having only missed this past election in her years of volunteering.Mrs. Wood was an employee of the former Greenway Manufacturing Co. and was last employed as a substitute cook in the Central Greene School District.She was a graduate of the former Center Twp. High School.Mrs. Wood enjoyed camping, spending time with her church friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren.On November 27, 1946 she married Charles Sherman Wood who died November 14, 1993.Surviving are a daughter, Cathy, wife of Randal Yenchik of Eastview; a son, James (Woody), husband of Billie Bryan Wood of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Randal Yenchik, Tracy Wood Coughlin and Bryan Wood; six great grandchildren; extended family, Leonor, wife of Sean Davis and children of Columbia, Md.; a brother, Joe, husband of Connie Nelson of Waynesburg; three sisters, Judy, wife of John Hoge of Waynesburg, Jackie Wood of Aliquippa and Marjorie Wise of Conway, S. Carolina; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are two sisters, Lucy Wilkerson and Clara Lou Zollars; three brothers, Donald, James and Jerry Nelson.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Throckmorton U.M.C., % Edward Hanley, 413 Hargas Creek Rd., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
