Glenn R. (DoodleBug) Jacobs, 72, of Center Township (Rutan), Greene Co. Pa. died at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007 in his home after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in August. Mr. Jacobs was born May 30, 1935 in Jackson Twp. (Bristoria) Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late Cecil Ray and Jeneva Letha White Jacobs and has resided in the Rutan area since 1970. He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church at Graysville, Pa. Mr. Jacobs was 1953 graduate of Richhill Twp. High School. He was a former employee of the Marianna and Scenery Hill telephone company and was last employed as a heavy equipment operator by Columbia Gas Corporation, Waynesburg for 22 years prior to retiring in 1997, and was a member of Local 66 Operating Engineers and enjoyed raising Polled Hereford cattle as long as his health permitted. Mr. Jacobs was a member of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 FAM and the Greene County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Army as a SP3 in the signal corps. On May 14, 1958 he married Patricia Ann Mason who survives. Also surviving are a son, Greg. G. Jacobs and a daughter, Melinda Taylor both of Center Twp. (Rutan); a step son, Robert, husband of Cathy Holmes of Fairmont, W.Va.; four brothers, Eugene, husband of Velma Jacobs of Graysville, Merrill, husband of Carol Jacobs of Holbrook, Shirl Jacobs of Mather and Francis, husband of Bonnie Jacobs of Center Twp. (Rutan); three sisters, Mary Lou, wife of Eugene Hughes of Graysville, Marilyn, wife of Thomas Pietras of Warren, Ohio and Judy, wife of Darrell McMasters of Southington, Ohio; one granddaughter, Megan Taylor; two step grandsons, Drew and David Holmes. Deceased in addition to his parents are a sister, Shirley Jacobs who died at birth and a brother, John Jacobs. At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing or services. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Hospice Care of The Washington Hospital, Inc., 10 Leet St., Washington, Pa. 15301 or the Fairview U.M. Church, Graysville, Pa. 15337.
