Gerald Finnegan

Gerald R. "Sonny" Finnegan, 78, of Aleppo Twp., Greene County, Pa. died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 in his home after being seriously ill for the past four months.He was born June 25, 1935 in Aleppo Twp. a son of the late Robert Murray and Myrtle Mae Garey Finnegan and had resided in Aleppo Twp. all his life.Mr. Finnegan was a member of the Aleppo Brethren Church.He enjoyed fishing, antique cars and restoration, and was known on the CB waves as "Apple Jack".Mr. Finnegan was employed as a laborer and equipment operator by various water and sewer pipeline construction companies for 47 years, and was last employed by David Black Contracting of Wintersville, Oh., prior to retiring in 1997.On December 23, 1958 he married Mary Ruth Smith who survives.Also surviving are a son, Robbie, husband of Tammy Finnegan of Wind Ridge, Pa.; four grandchildren, Hillary Cumpston, Heather Day, Katelynn and Addison Finnegan; and a sister, Peggy, wife of Asa Hughes of Allentown, Pa.Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother, Kenneth L. Finnegan, who died in 2007.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Aleppo Brethren Church, 1049 Green Valley Rd, Aleppo, Pa., 15310.
