Fred Moore

Fred C. Moore, 78, of Rogersville, Pa. died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. following a lengthy illness. He was born July 22, 1930 in Springhill Twp. (Deep Valley), Greene Co. Pa. a son of Jacob Harrison and Winnie Opal Anderson Moore and had resided in Allegheny Co. prior to moving to Rogersville in the fall of 1963. Mr. Moore was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Center Twp. V.F.D. for 25 years. He was employed by Penn D.O.T. at the Waynesburg depot for 33 years as an equipment operator where he was affectionately known as the "The Old Man" prior to retiring in 1989. In June 1948 he married Doris E. Earnest who survives. Also surviving are a son, Kenneth, husband of Jane Pollock Moore of Steubenville, Ohio and a daughter, Barbara, wife of Kenneth Hull of Moundsville, W.Va.; a sister, Phyllis Ramsey of Raleigh, N. C.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, wife of Joe Bright, Amanda, wife of Scott Renner, Jacob and Catherine Moore and Justin Hull; three great grandchildren, Noah, Rachael and Matthew Bright; several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are four sisters, Violet Simms, Edith Dawson, Gladys Renner and Joyce Morrison.A firefighter memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home by the Center Twp. V.F.D. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rogersville U.M. Church, PO Box 315, Rogersville, Pa. 15359.
