Frank A. "Al" Logsdon, 89, of Washington, Pa. died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2006 in Humert Lane Heath Care Centre, Washington, Pa.He was born February 28, 1917 in Taylorstown, Pa. a son of Willard Rickie and Mary Jane Rothwell Logsdon and had resided in the Washington area most of his life. Mr. Logsdon was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army as a Tech 5 and received the Purple Heart and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He participated in the Battle of Safi, Morocco and was stationed in French Morocco, Africa.He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 927 in Washington and a member of the American Legion Post #639 in Claysville and the Jessop Club in Washington, Pa.Mr. Logsdon was a former truck driver and was employed by the former Hazel Atlas Glass Plant #2 and the former Moly-Corp plant, both in Washington and was self-employed approximately 17 years in excavating and black topping and was last employed as a laborer with Canton Twp. for approximately 10 years prior to retiring in 1979. On May 31, 1979, he married Viola Mae Elliott Clark who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are two step sons, Donald Ray, husband of Carol Clark of Los Alamos, CA. and Cecil R., husband of Vicki Clark of Claysville, Pa.; two step daughters, Leona Mae O'Banion of Long Beach, CA. and Norma Jean, wife of Troy Hayes of Santa Clara, CA.; one brother, Lee Logsdon of Washington, Pa.; one sister, Marie Baker of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren.Deceased are a son, Frank C. Logsdon; a daughter, Linda Zogg; four brothers, George, Bill, Charles, and Harry Logsdon; six sisters, Leona Logsdon, Mae Trussell, Ethel Gordon, Hazel Cole, Pearl Foster and Ruth McDaid.
