Floyd Dille

Floyd E. Dille, 93, of Ligonier, Pa. and formerly of Morris Twp. (Sycamore, Pa,) Greene Co. died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 in the Bethlen Home in Ligonier. He was born Feb. 15, 1917 in Washington Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late Forest Earland and Inez Margaret Andrew Dille and has been a resident of the Ligonier area since 2002. Mr. Dille was a member of the Swarts United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday school superintendent and a member of the Lord's Acre committee of the church. He was a 1935 graduate of Nineveh High School. Mr. Dille was a self employed farmer all his life and owned, operated and wore out three thrashing machines and served as a Morris Twp. Road supervisor for several terms and was employed as a equipment operator during the construction of the Pa. Turnpike. He was an avid hunter as long as his health permitted. On April 8, 1939 he married Mona L. Swiger who died October 19, 2004. Surviving are two daughters, M. Peg Orrel, companion of Joseph McNeely of West Salem, Ill and Melinda, wife of Brian Roberts of Ligonier; 9 grandchildren, Donald and Lloyd Fike, Phyllis Klein, Deborah Wicklund, Anita Weldon, Justin and Nathan Fieldson, Candace and Coby Roberts; 17 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to his parents and wife are a son, Floyd Dale Dille who died June 24, 1953; two brothers, Alvin and Eugene Dille; two sisters, Althea Strawn and Wilma Filby. Mr. Dille was the last of his immediate family. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Foundation.
