Ferne Orndoff

Ferne J. Orndoff, 98, of Murdock,(near Wichita), Kansas and formerly of Rogersville, Pa. died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 in the Wheatlands Health Care Center, Kingman, Kansas.She was born June 5, 1909 in Center Twp. (Rutan), Greene Co., Pa. a daughter of William Hamilton and Georgia Zettia McCloud Jennings and had resided in the Rogersville and Rutan areas most of her life prior to moving to Murdock in 1986 to be near her daughter and family.Mrs. Orndoff was the valedictorian of Center Twp. High School class of 1927 and was the last surviving member of her graduating class.She was a member of Rogersville Methodist Church.Mrs. Orndoff was formerly employed as manager and cook at the West Greene High School cafeteria for 12 years prior to retiring in 1972.She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, reading, playing "cinch" and watching Major League baseball.On April 8, 1929 she married William Arthur Orndoff (her high school sweetheart), who died June 8, 2003.Surviving are her daughter, Sharon, wife of John Huskey of Murdock, KS with whom she has made her home since 2003; one granddaughter, Rachel, wife of Mark Brew of Cleveland, TN; a grandson, John A. Huskey of Santa Fe, NM; two great grandchildren, Moriah Elise Brew and Alex Mark Brew and two nephews, John and Ray Haas.Deceased in addition to her husband is a sister, Mary Aldene (Dene) Jennings Haas.She is the last of her immediate family.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rogersville United Methodist Church, PO Box 315, Rogersville, PA. 15359.
