Evelyn J. Stollar Mahan, 86, of Washington, Pa. went home to be with the Lord at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 in her home.She was born November 29, 1923 in West Finley, Pa. a daughter of the late Chauncey Allen and Eulalia Ethel Sprowls Stollar.Mrs. Mahan was a former member of the Broad Street Baptist Church in Washington, Pa. where she had taught Sunday school for 10 years and at the time of her death she was member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Washington where she was a member of the Merry Hearts Group of the church, a former secretary of the General Missionary, a Sunday school teacher, church financial secretary and child evangelism teacher.She was a 1944 graduate of the former Claysville High School.Mrs. Mahan was an employee of the former Weber National Store and was last employed as a salesperson for the former Charles Gessner Shop both in Washington prior to retiring in 1986.She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family and grandchildren, reading her Bible and cooking.On August 12, 1944 she married Gerald Edward Mahan who survives.Also surviving is a son, Robert E. Mahan, Sr., husband of Darlene Mahan of Washington; a sister, Wilma Johnston of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Amy Marie, wife of Gregory Ross of Strabane and Robert E. Mahan, Jr., husband of Brenda Mahan of Washington; two great grandchildren, Jesse Edward and Jena Marie Ross.Deceased in addition to her parents are a son and two daughters who died at birth; a sister, Ellen Earnest; a brother, Dale Stollar.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 1701 Ridgewood Dr., Washington, Pa. 15301.
