Ethyl Brock

Ethyl C. Brock, 84, of Carmichaels, Pa. died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 in the Lafayett Manor Nursing Home in Uniontown, Pa. following a brief illness. She was born September 19, 1924 in Whitely Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a daughter of Marion Elva and Bessie Caroline Rush Brock. Miss Brock had resided in the Waynesburg area all her life and had wintered in Hernando, Florida for 15 years prior to 2007. She was a member of the Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church and attended the Hernando (Florida) Baptist Church. Miss Brock enjoyed quilting, the out-of-doors, camping and traveling as long as her heath permitted. She was a graduate of Waynesburg High School. Miss Brock was employed as a telephone operator for 24 years in Waynesburg with the former South Penn Telephone Co. and retired from the Mid-Penn Telephone/Alltel Phone Co. in 1982. Surviving are two nieces, Carolyn, wife of Richard Brumley of Waynesburg and Doris Meighen of Fredricktown; one nephew, Louis, husband of Sharon Jeffries of Waynesburg. Deceased in addition to her parents are a sister, Ruth D. Jeffries; a brother, Elva Brock; one half sister, May Stiles. Miss Brock was the last of her immediate family.
