Elwood E. Gray, 84, of Kingwood, Texas and formerly of Waynesburg, Pa. and Jackson Township, Greene County, Pa. died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the Cleveland (Texas) Health Center following a lengthy illness.He was born May 24, 1919 in Mannington, W.Va. a son of William Hammond and Mary Harker Gray.Mr. Gray had resided in Greene County most of his life prior to moving to Texas in 1958.He was a member of the Sandia Baptist Church in Sandia, Texas and the Cuero (Texas) Masonic Lodge 409.Mr. Gray was a 1938 graduate of Center Township High School in Rogersville, Pa.He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a private first class in the U.S. Army with the 852nd CA Battery.Mr. Gray was employed in plant maintenance by Texas Eastern (Duke Energy) for several years prior to his retirement in 1981.On July 3, 1946 he married June Evelyn Clutter Gray who died September 19, 1994.Surviving are two daughters, Pam Lindner of Kingwood, Texas and Alexis Poole of Austin, Texas; one son Eric Gray of Warren, Texas; seven grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Deceased are a grandson, Kyle Gray; one brother and five sisters.Mr. Gray was the last of his immediate family.
