Edward F. Porky Porter, Jr., 65, of Holbrook, Pa. died unexpectedly at 11:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born November 27, 1948 in Cumberland, Md., a son of the late Edward Franklin Porter, Sr. and Mildred Marie McCourt Porter and had been a resident of the Holbrook area since 1971. Mr. Porter was a member and former deacon of the Bristoria Baptist Church and was a 1967 graduate of the former Waynesburg High School. He enjoyed his time with family and grandchildren, golfing and farming. Mr. Porter had been employed in pipeline radiography for the past 48 years and was currently employed as the senior operations manager with QSL-NDT and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 112 of Anderson, IN. On July 10, 1971 he married Linda Etta Gillogly who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mike, husband of Jenny Porter of Waynesburg and C.J. Porter of Holbrook; a daughter, Becky, wife of Charlie Garber of Holbrook; a sister, Mary Bane of Blacksville, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Nicole Garber, Tyler, Tucker and Cadyn Porter. Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister, Patricia Tennant. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Bristoria Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Jackson Twp. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Gideons International or the Wounded Warrior Project.
