Edison W. Caldwell, 90, of Claysvlle, Pa. died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2007 in the Hixenbaugh Nursing Home, Claysville after being in failing health since March.He was born February 18, 1917 in Dallas, West Virginia a son of Jonas and Addie Leona Doman Caldwell and had resided in Dallas, W.Va for 30 years prior to moving to Claysville in 1953.Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Claysville United Methodist.He was employed as a track foreman with the BO Railroad and the Chessie System for 42 years prior to retiring in 1978. Mr. Caldwell was well known in the tri-state area as an auctioneer and a figure caller for square dances which he learned at the age of 12 and continued 60 years and enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle as long as his health permitted.He was a former member of the Buffalo Grange #1532.On May 16, 1939, he married Zelma Rosalie Hughes Caldwell who died on September 8, 2005.Surviving are two sons, Roger Caldwell and Jerry W., husband of Cathy Lillie Caldwell, all of Valley Grove, West Virginia; one grandson, Judd W. Caldwell; two granddaughters, Shelly L. Wigal and Rend'ee K., wife of Brian Leech; one great granddaughter, Karae L. Wigal.Deceased are two brothers, Jack and Randolph Caldwell; five sisters, Hazel Powel, Bertha Blake, Niecie Kettlewell, Flossie Gray and Floe Nickerson.He was the last of his immediate family.
