Obituary for E. Braddock
E. Byron Braddock, 94, of Wind Ridge, died at 1:40 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2006 in his home.He was born December 29, 1911 in Richhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa. a son of Samuel Earl and Mabel May McNay Braddock and had resided in Wind Ridge and Richhill Twp. all of his life.Mr. Braddock was a member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge where he had served as a former deacon and elder and was a graduate of the last graduating class of Richhill Twp. High School in 1931.He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as a Seaman First Class on the LST 830 Amphibious ship during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area ribbon, American Area Campaign ribbon, World War II Victory ribbon and participated in Okinawa Gunto landings and occupation of Sasebo.Mr. Braddock was a former employee of Manufacturers Light Heat (Columbia Gas) and was a former pipeline laborer and farmer. He was the former owner operator of Braddock Drilling for over forty years and was partnered with the late Jesse Gray from 1946 to 1956 prior to retiring in 1986. He was a former member of the V.F.W. Post 4793 and American Legion Post 330 both of Waynesburg and was a member of the Graysville Knights of Pythias Lodge. He was a charter member of the Richhill Twp. V.F.D.On October 19, 1935 he married Helen Regina King Braddock who died on November 21, 1999.Surviving are several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his wife are one sister, Mildred Braddock; two brothers, Robert M. and Harold "Boots" Braddock.Mr. Braddock was the last of his immediate family.
