Dorothy Warrell Canan

Dorothy Warrell Canan, age 95, of Claysville, PA, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 while under the care of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington, PA.

Born April 9, 1922 in Claysville, PA, she is the daughter of the late Elmer and Lenore (Berger) Warrell. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Claysville Christian Church, where she was baptized at the age of 11. She was member and past Worthy Matron of the former O.E.S Chapter 187 in Claysville.

Dorothy graduated in 1940 from Claysville High School. Dorothy and Quetin enjoyed traveling and spent 41 winters in Fort Myers, Florida. She was an antique dealer along with her husband for many years and also assisted her late husband with the former Canan Brother’s Auctioning. On April 11, 1941 she married the love of her life, Quentin S. Canan. They shared 56 years in a loving marriage before his death in August 15, 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra L. Miller Shugerts and Marcia (William) Elliott; three grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Purple Dee Dee”, Tamera (Alan) Yuill, Mark (Patti) Miller and Jeff (Tammy) Elliott; as well as ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; adoring sister to Howard (Dottie) Warrell; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Plants and Lola Ingram who she missed everyday.

Friends will be received on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Claysville Christian Church, 128 Church Street, Claysville, PA 15323. The O.E.S. Martha V. Paul Chapter #404 of Washington, PA. will hold a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. with church elders, officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA, 15359. (724) 499-5181.
