Dorothy Mae Vanderhoof, 83, of Claysville, Pa. died unexpectedly at 9:30 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. She was born August 23, 1930 in Claysville, a daughter of the late Earl Cecil and Frances Mae Trussell Vanderhoof and had resided in the Claysville area all her life.Miss Vanderhoof was a member of the First Baptist Church in Claysville and was a 1948 graduate of the former Claysville High School.She was also a member of the Claysville V.F.D. Auxiliary, the McGuffey Senior Citizens and was a former volunteer worker at the Community Center.Miss Vanderhoof enjoyed reading her Bible and general reading and magazines.She was hired as a housekeeper by the late H.H. Brownlee family, founders of the former Brownlee Funeral Home in Claysville, the day following graduation from high school, and continued her employment with the family until the passing of Whitey and Romaine Brownlee, and assisted in the former Brownlee, Ferrell and Heinrich Funeral Homes, for a total of 65 years prior retiring in 2010.Surviving are one sister, Mary, wife of Ray Patterson of Moundsville, W.Va.; four brothers, Carl W., husband of Julia Vanderhoof and Paul, husband of Carol Vanderhoof, both of Claysville, Earl Vanderhoof of Knoxville, TN. and John, husband of Diane Vanderhoof of Locust Grove, Va.; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents are a sister, Doris Manfredi and two brothers, Gene and Ray Vanderhoof.
