Dorothy Belle Post Knox, 95 of Claysville, Pa., died at 5:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Hixenbaugh Personal Care Home, Claysville. She was born August 1, 1914 in Blaine Township, Washington County, Pa., a daughter of the late John Linley and Bertha Elizabeth (Sprowls) Post. Mrs. Knox was a 1932 graduate of Claysville High School and resided in Claysville most of her life. She was a member of the Claysville Christian Church where she was a member of the choir and missionary society. In addition, Mrs. Knox was a volunteer for the Washington Hospital Auxiliary for about 25 years and was a member of the Claysville Senior Center where she delivered Meals on Wheels for about four years. She enjoyed knitting afghans for her family and making knotted baby blankets. On December 19, 1935, she married Clyde Monroe Knox, who died in January of 1977. Surviving are a son, Charles Knox and his wife, Vickie of Washington; two daughters, Frances Moorehead and her husband, Sonny of Claysville and Cindy Munnell and her husband, Tom of Aurora, Col.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Martha Kirby of Albuquerque, N. M.; a daughter-in-law, Mary S. Knox of Claysville and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, George Edward Knox who died in 2006; a brother, Clark S. Post; two sisters, Mary Irwin and Alice Berry and her companion, Hubert White. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Claysville Christian Church, P.O. Box 438, Claysville, PA 15323 or to Three Rivers Hospice, 1195 Jacks Run Rd., North Versailles, PA 15137.
