Dorothy Furdak

Dorothy M. "Nimmy" Furdak, 70, of Wind Ridge, Pa. and formerly of Beaver Co., Pa. died unexpectedly at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 in her home. She had been suffering with a heart condition for the past several years but her death was totally unexpected.She was born May 21, 1938 in Ambridge, Pa. a daughter of the late Howard Gilchrist and Dorothy Leora Cooke Gilchrist Gray.Mrs. Furdak had resided in Georgetown, Pa. for approximately 20 years, and from 2004 and until returning to Greene County in 2008 made her home with her daughter in Ohio.She was a member of the West Greene Senior citizens.Mr. Furdak enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, playing cinch, crossword puzzles and astrology.On April 30, 1955 she married John Furdak who died June 5, 1979.Surviving are a daughter, Verna Jean, wife of Tom Lazear of Athens, Ohio; two sons, John David, husband of Lynn Furdak of Wilmington, DE and Roger Thomas, husband of Debbie Furdak of Kingwood, Texas; a sister, Verna Imogene (Jeanne) Jackson of Cameron, W.Va.; a brother, Patrick S. (Rick), husband of Carolyn Gilchrist of Pulaski, Va.; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a daughter, Johnette Furdak-Roy who died in 2003; a great granddaughter, Mariah Beringer-Furdak.At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or services.Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
