Dorothy Cooke, 95, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Holbrook (Center Twp.) Greene Co. Pa. died at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 in the Respi Center-West, in Waynesburg after being in failing health for the past two years.She was born October 26, 1914 in Amity, Pa. a daughter of the late Nathan and Lucy Jane Loar Hatfield and had resided in the Holbrook area from 1941 until moving to Waynesburg in 2007.Mrs. Cooke was a member of the Trinity Independent Baptist Church in Waynesburg.She enjoyed gardening and yard work as long as her health permitted.Mrs. Cooke was a member of the West Greene senior citizens.On January 10, 1940 she married Melvin Cooke who died February 8, 2010.Surviving are three sons, Bob, husband of Barbara Cooke of Blacksville, W.Va., Jack, husband of Janice Cooke and Jerry, husband of Linda Cooke both of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a grandson, Scott Cooke; a great granddaughter, Desiree Brosovich; a brother, John Hatfield; five sisters, Neva Hatfield, Sarah Elliott, Pearl Sanders, Florence Miller (Twin) and Ruth Gray and a sister who died in infancy; a sister, J.N. "Minnie" Mitchell.Mrs. Cooke was the last of her immediate family.
