Doris Kathleen Tharp, 83, of Sycamore R.D. #1, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2004 in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg after being failing health for the past three months. She was born August 26, 1921 in Mapletown, Pa., the daughter of Chester Earl and Mary Cole Watson. Mrs. Tharp had been a resident of Waynesburg and Oak Forest most of her life prior to moving to Sycamore in 2001. She was a member of Moose Lodge, No. 461, Eagles Club, and VFW Auxiliary, all of Waynesburg.Mrs. Tharp enjoyed the outdoors and hunting for ginseng, loved animals especially her cat, Kitty. She was an avid bingo player and was a volunteer assistant with the Waynesburg Elks and Humane Society's bingo. Mrs. Tharp was employed in Housekeeping by Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1982.She was married to James Stickles, Allen Meeks Rush and Woodrow "Jack" Tharp. , who are all deceased. Surviving are one daughter, Donna Jean, wife of Bob Dean with whom she had made her home since 2001; two sons, Rodney E. Rush, husband of Belle Ann Kiger, and Thomas A. Rush, all of Sycamore R.D. #1; one step daughter, Margaret Stickles Ullom of Waynesburg, four step sons, Harold (Sonny) Tharp of Wind Ridge, Dennis C. Tharp of Holbrook R. D. #1, Joseph Rush of Washington, and Ernie Stickles of Ohio; two daughters-in law, Cathy McElroy Stickles of Waynesburg and Mary Nucci of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Melissa Stickles Byler, Eric and Ronald Stickles, Jr., Kathy Dean Arbogast, Kim Dean Jordan, Bobby Dean and Tabatha Rush; eight great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to her husbands are one son, Ronald Wayne Stickles, who died in 1973; three sisters, Neva Mary Watson, Mildred Elizabeth Watson, and H. Irene Cole; one brother, Raymond E. Watson; one granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Stickles; and one step daughter, Mildred Rush Rogers. Mrs. Tharp was the last of her immediate family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rolling Meadows Activity Fund in care of Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, 107 Curry Road, Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
