Donnis L. (Carter) Strope

Donnis L. (Carter) Strope, age 84, of Maple Lane in Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 24, 1937, in Bristoria, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Nelle (Riggs) Carter of Bristoria, PA.

Donnis graduated from Rogersville High School in 1953. She married Melvin Strope, on August 8, 1958 and was a homemaker. Donnis lived in Greene County her whole life and was a member of the Windy Gap Church in Aleppo, PA. She enjoyed listening to music especially gospel, flowers, reading, and cooking. Donnis loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, and three children, Mary (Stephen Jobes) Strope of Cameron, WV, Ruth (Billy) Williams of Sevierville, TN, and Rodney Strope of Waynesburg, PA; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Devon) Ross of Ryerson, PA, Garth King of Mountain City, TN, Kendra (Andy) Lethco of Sevierville, TN, Tabitha (William) Smith of Kodak, TN, Sierra (Adam Crawford) Campbell of Jollytown, PA, and Tyson Williams of Sevierville, TN; ten great grandchildren, Marilyn and Bryce King-Molloy, Haylin and Maddie Smith, Elaina Daugherty, Lily Crawford, Saphira, Keelan, Remington Ross, and Lincoln Lethco; Sister-In-Law: Janet Carter of Folsom, WV, and four cousins: Barb Carter-Herring, Joy Carter-Anderson, Judy Carter-Beresford and Anna Marie Simms.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, two brothers, Donnie, and Dale Carter.

Friends will be received Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone:724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held at 8pm immediately following the visitation at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Singo, officiating.
