Donna Ann Shuman Mounts Rhoades

Donna Ann Shuman Mounts Rhoades, 70, of West Alexander, Pa. passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father at 10:45 pm Thursday, September 13, 2018 in the UPMC Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. after being seriously ill since Labor Day weekend.

She was born May 4, 1948 in Wheeling, W.Va. a daughter of the late Donald Lloyd and Anna Louise Compton Shuman and had been a resident of the West Alexander area all her life.

Mrs. Rhoades was a member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir.

She was a 1966 graduate of McGuffey High School and attended Penn Commercial Business College.

Mrs. Rhoades was a former employee of the McGuffey School District, Waste Management and RCA prior to being employed as a collections agent with the former Smith-Kline-Beechum Pharmaceuticals for 15 years prior to her retirement.

She was an avid car enthusiast, owning over 42 vehicles in her lifetime, and also enjoyed games on her I-pad, planning vacations, dining out and enjoyed playing softball in her earlier years.

Her first husband, Daun Mounts died in 1972, and on October 30, 2004 she married William J. “Billie” Rhoades, Jr. who survives.

Also surviving are two step-sons, Benjamin (Megan) Rhoades of Washington and Jesse (Emily Chapman) Rhoades of Wheeling, W.Va.; her extended family, Frances “Sis” (Frank) Garrison of West Alexander, Kim (Jim) McAnany of Claysville, Jerry (Frankie) Garrison of Washington and Pam (Randy) Wolfe of Alaska; several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Sunday in the West Alexander United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2018 with Retired Elder P.A. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the West Alexander Cemetery. The family asked that donations be made to the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, 3275 W.
