Donald M. Scott, Sr., 85, of Claysville, Pa. died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, September 26, 2004 in his home after being in failing health for the past several years.He was born October 11, 1918, in Dunn Station (Morris Township), Washington County, PA, a son of William Isaac and Cynthia Miller Scott and has resided in the Claysville area since 1950.Mr. Scott was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church.He enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as his health permitted as was a youth baseball coach for several years in the Claysville Little League, Pony and Colt leagues.Mr. Scott was a 1938 graduate of Morris Township High School.He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a seaman second class with the U.S. Navy.Mr. Scott was employed as a machinist by the former Brockway Glass Co. in Washington for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1980.On October 4, 1941, he married Margaret Jean Sprowls who survives.Also surviving are four sons, Donald m., Jr. husband of Carol Morris Scott and William R., husband of Sharon McDowell Scott of Washington, Gary L., husband of Melody Armstrong Scott and Randy L. Scott of Claysville; one daughter, Kathy, wife of Robert McAnallen II of Prosperity; one brother, W. Paul Scott of Nineveh; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased are three brothers, Gaylord, Glenn and Roy Scott; one sister, Claire Ealy.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Tuesday in the Hummell Barnhill Memorial Chapel, Inc., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004, with Rev. G.M. Sayre officiating and Gerald McCammon assisting. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery, Donegal Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville V.F.D. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc., Rogersville, PA.
