Donald R. McKahan, 59, of Dilliner, Pa. died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. after a one year battle with a cancer related illness.He was born September 21, 1951 in Waynesburg, Pa. a son of the late Donald Russell and Martha "Peg" King McKahan.Mr. McKahan had resided in the Crucible and Waynesburg areas prior to moving to the Dilliner area where he resided for the past 18 years.Mr. McKahan attended West Greene High School.He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War where he served as an E-4 with the U.S. Army in the SVC Battery, 1st Bn, 6th Arty, 1st Cav Div, Fifth Army.Mr. McKahan was a member and past commander of the D.A.V. Post 123 in Waynesburg and was a social member of the American Legion Post 499 in Pt. Marion and was a member of the Citizens Club in Crucible.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, model boat building and the time with his family and was also adapt at training bird and hunting dogs.Mr. McKahan was last employed as a belt foreman for C J Welding at Bailey Mine for 14 years prior to his illness.Surviving are his wife, Donna "Dee" Gump McKahan; three sons, Donald R. McKahan, Jr. of Tampa, Fl., Shaun E. McKahan at home and Adam D. McKahan of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kayla Marie Weaver and Nadine Marie Henderson; a brother, Christopher McKahan of Fairmont, W.Va.; a sister, Sheila, wife of Richard Lemley of Aleppo Twp.; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents is a son, Martin L. McKahan and a brother, Lee McKahan.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
