Donald Ray Martin, 70, of Aleppo Twp. Greene Co. Pa. died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007 in his home after suffering with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his daughter and niece Ruth Ann Maloney who were his caregivers. Mr. Martin was born June 18,1936 in Aleppo Twp. a son of Samuel E. and Ruth Lohr Martin and had resided in Aleppo Twp. most of his life where he and his niece Ruth Ann Maloney were the primary caregivers for his mother from 1999 and until her death in 2003.He was a member of the former Long Run Church of God and was a supporter of the Trinity Baptist Church in Waynesburg and appreciated their offers of assistance during his illness.Mr. Martin enjoyed attending field trials, livestock auctions and yard sales.He was a former member of the Centennial Cemetery Board of Directors, a member and avid supporter of the Richhill Twp. V.F.D. and attended the former Center Twp. High School.He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Army as a private first class with the Army artillery unit and received the Good Conduct Medal.Mr. Martin had been employed by the former McAnallen Brothers Construction Co. of Washington, followed by 17 years as an ironworker for the Custodis Construction Co. of Chicago and was last employed as an Aleppo Twp. road supervisor prior to his retirement in 1997.Surviving are a daughter, Donna Jo (David) Ricciuti of Ruff Creek; a brother, Kenneth (Joretta) Martin of Walhonding, Ohio; a sister, Blanche Courtwright of Aleppo Twp.; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Ricciuti, Jeremy Ricciuti, Jenna Ricciuti, Emma Ricciuti all of Ruff Creek; a niece Ruth Ann Maloney of Cincinnati Ohio and other nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Donald Boyd Martin; two sisters, Betty Jo Riggle and Wretha Tedrow Rucker.
