Delmar L. (Del) Cook, 57, of Claysville, Pa. died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in The Washington Hospital after being in failing health for the past several years.He was born February 23, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. a son of the late Delmar Henry and Rita Laverne Johnston Cook and had been a resident of Claysville since 1981.He attended the Claysville United Presbyterian Church.Mr. Cook was a 1972 graduate of South Huntington (Yough) High School, The Washington Hospital School of Radiology and Penn Commercial Business College where he was a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma Honor Society.He was a charter member of the Claysville Lions Club, and a member and past treasurer of the Claysville Sportsmans Club, an active (non-member) volunteer with the Claysville V.F.D.Mr. Cook served as a Claysville youth baseball coach for several years, and served as the Scout Master for Troop 1031 for over 10 years, where he aided approximately 20 young men attain the rank of Eagle Scout.He has been employed as the real estate tax collector for Claysville and the McGuffey School District for the past six years.On April 26, 1975 he married Jo Ann Ferrell who survives.Also surviving are a son, Lance Cook of Claysville; a daughter, Heidi, wife of Ronald McIntyre of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) McIntyre; four brothers, Douglas, husband of Debbie Cook, Dennis, husband of Darlene Cook, Donald, husband of Misty Cook and David Cook all of Westmoreland County; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville V.F.D., PO Box 435, Claysville, Pa. 15323.
