Darl L. Martin, 74, of Rushville, Ohio and formerly of Prosperity, Pa. died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in the Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio after being in failing health for approximately the last two years and had been a Leukemia survivor since 1992. He was born August 4, 1929 in Grafton, W.Va. a son of Floyd Daniel and Orpha Lee Stansbury Martin and had resided in Prosperity, Pa. for seventeen years prior to moving to the Logan (Rushville), Oh. area in 2001. Mr. Martin was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Washington County for several years. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, bird watching, and enjoyed making homemade peanut butter fudge.He was formerly employed by Metro Glass of Washington, Pa. prior to being employed by Coors Glass Company of Golden, CO. and retired from Anchor-Hocking Glass, Beaver/Monaca, Pa. as a machinist in 1988.Mr. Martin was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a Seaman First Class from 1947-1950.On September 23, 1950 he married Martha Leota Ealy Martin who survives.Surviving are four sons, Darl L. Martin, Jr. of Arvada, Co., Michael W. Martin of Downs, Ks, Jeffrey W. Martin of Ambridge, Pa., and Gregory A. Martin of Columbus, Oh.; one daughter, Karen S. Stelzer of Rushville, Oh.; two sisters, Twila Lee Berry of Zanesville, Oh. and Betty Jane Piatt of Washington, Pa.; three brothers, Floyd D. Martin, Jr. of Maywood, Ca., Donald R. Martin of Waynesburg, Pa., Robert French Martin of Columbus, Oh.; eleven grandchildren, Jamison and Nicholas Stelzer; Jessica, Christy, Angela, Michelle, Tyler Aaron, and Emily Michelle Martin; Dawn, Bud and Robbie Hall.; eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brittany Martin. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
