Clyde R. Sprowls, 74, of West Finley, R.D. #2 died unexpectedly at 12:40 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2004 in The Washington Hospital emergency room, Washington, Pa. He was born August 1, 1930 in East Finley Twp. a son of Forrest Lee and Mary Emmaline Stollar Sprowls.Mr. Sprowls had resided at his birthplace in East Finley Township all of his life. He was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, East Finley Township where he has served as a Trustee and member and President of the Fairmount Cemetery Board for several years. Mr. Sprowls was a 1948 graduate of Claysville High School and a veteran of the US Army where he served as a PFC during the Korean War.He was employed by Prosperity Oil (formerly Preston Oil) for 36 years as a well pumper prior to retiring in 1995, and was currently employed as an East Finley Township Supervisor. Mr. Sprowls was an original member of the East Finley Township Bi-Centennial Committee and has been a volunteer with the East Finley Twp. July 4th Celebration for the past several years, he was also a founding member of the East Finley Horseshoe Club and served as a member of the McGuffey School Board Jointure. He was an avid farmer all his life, and enjoyed trapping and hunting. Mr. Sprowls enjoyed discussions concerning his love of Fords, Allis Chalmers tractors and was the proud owner of his dog and companion "Ben". On March 3, 1951, he married Roberta June Henderson Sprowls who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa "Terry", wife of Mark Bostich of Bentleyville and Linda Lee Sprowls of Washington; three granddaughters, Emily Essay, Lindsay and Darcy Bostich. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased is one brother, Blaine Lee Sprowls.
