Clarence Gray

Clarence "Tiny" Gray, 89, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. after being in failing health for the past three years.He was born June 12, 1916 in Washington, Pa. a son of William John Gray and has been a resident of Wind Ridge most of his adult life. Mr. Gray was a veteran of World War II where he served with US Army as a PFC with the 833rd Aviation Engineer Battalion. He was a participant in the Battle of Normandy and also served in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze stars.He was an employee of the former Hazel Atlas Glass Company in Washington, as a moldmaker and was last employed by Washington and Jefferson College in the maintenance department for over 10 years prior to retiring in 1976.Mr. Gray was a member of the Richhill V.F.D. and a member of the American Legion Post 175 of Washington.On July 22, 1946 he married Marie Clara Greene Gray who died on June 20, 1989.Surviving are a son, William J. Gray of Wind Ridge, Pa. and a daughter, Judy Ann wife of Lawrence Headley of Graysville, Pa; two grandsons, John Ross Headley and William J. Gray; one granddaughter, Janice Marie (Dee) Bedilion; four great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to his wife are three brothers and one sister.He was the last of his immediate family.
