Obituary for Clare Kiger
Clare A. Kiger, 88, formerly of Prosperity, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. after being in failing health since November. She was born October 28,1916 in Ravenna, NE a daughter of J. Samuel and Emma Lawrence Montgomery and had moved to Pennsylvania in 1920 and had resided in East and West Finely Twps., prior to moving to Prosperity in 1945.Mrs. Kiger was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ladies Aide Society. She attended the Rocky School in East Finley Twp. Mrs. Kiger was an avid fan of Pony League baseball in Washington and enjoyed watching stock car races and motorcycle hill climbs. She enjoyed time spent with her family and grandchildren. On February 11, 1936, she married Kenneth Lazell Kiger who died on November 5, 1993. Surviving are one daughter, Wanda wife of John Wright of Waynesburg; one son, Duane L. husband of Mary E. Staggers Kiger of Prosperity; five grandchildren, Kenneth (Laverne), husband of Connie Kiger, Cheryl, wife of Paul Hardway, Duane E. Kiger, Saundra and Renee Wright; four great grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Hardway, Brendan Wright, Amoret and Cassie Kiger; four step great grandchildren, Alan, Amanda, Samantha and Jackson Fisher;two sisters, Iona (Toney) Welling of Washington and Mildred Montgomery of Keller, TX. Deceased in addition to her husband are one daughter who died in infancy; one brother, Major (RET) Thomas (Jimmy) Montgomery; three sisters, Margaret Brownlee, Irma Mass and Olga Montgomery who died in infancy.
