Charles Moore

Charles W. Moore, 75, of Springhill Twp. (Deep Valley), Greene Co. Pa. died unexpectedly at 12:55 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008 in the home of his daughter, after being in failing health for the past two months. He was born January 30, 1932 in North Bethlehem Twp., Washington County, Pa. a son of Charles Thalmage and Katherine Marie (Moore) Moore and had resided in North Bethlehem Twp. most of his life prior to moving to Springhill Twp. in 2002. Mr. Moore was a former member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as an Airman First Class with the U.S. Air Force Hq 3380th Technical Training Group at Keesler Aire Force Base, Miss. and was awarded the Korean Service, U.N. Service and the National Defense Service Medals. Mr. Moore was a former member of the American Legion Post #175 and a former member of the Independent Club, both in Washington, Pa. He was a former employee of Robinson Pipe Cleaning Company in Eighty-Four, Pa as a laborer for over 8 years and was formerly employed by Cappelli's Beer and Pop Warehouse in Washington as a truck driver for 20 years. He was last employed by Washington Bottling Company in Washington as a truck driver for 12 years prior to retiring in 1998. Mr. Moore enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent teaching his grandchildren hunting and fishing. On May 5, 1964, he married Doris Jean Gray Moore who survives. Also surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles Michael and Howard Wayne Moore, both of Texas; two daughters, Katherine Irene Forsythe of Grafton, W.Va. and Glenna Lucy of Springhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Deceased are one grandson, Dustin Forsythe; one brother, Vincent Keith Moore; one sister, Gwendlyn Ruth Weaver; one step brother, Carl Moore; and a step sister, Mary Melvin. Mr. Moore was the last of his immediate family. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services.
