Charles "Charlie" R. McGowan,Sr. 54, of Richhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa. died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 in his home after suffering with a cancer related illness for the past two years. He was born April 5, 1960 in Pittsburgh, Pa. a son of the late Kenneth John James McGowan, Jr. and Carol Ann Jenkins McGowan and had resided in the Richhill Twp. area for most of his life. Mr. McGowan was a 1978 graduate of West Greene High School. He was formerly employed as a carpenter for McMillian Home Builders for 12 years, and had been a self- employed carpenter and remodeler for over 30 years, prior to retiring in 2013 due to ill health. Surviving are two sons, Charles R. McGowan, Jr., companion of Alisha Dean of Washington and Rory I. McGowan of McCracken, Pa.; a daughter, Tera R. McGowan of Waynesburg, Pa.; a step son, Wade Blackmon of McCracken; a step daughter, Paige Palmer of Holbrook; two grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth, husband of Linda McGowan of Richhill Twp., William McGowan of Jefferson and Thomas L., husband of Stephanie McGowan of West Finley; a sister, Patricia, wife of Joe French of Smithfield, Pa. At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. with Lay Pastor, Mark McMillen officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
