Charles Leroy "Bugsy" Grimes

Charles L. (Bugsy) Grimes, 68, of Jackson Twp., Greene County, Pa. died peacefully at 9:20 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 in his home after being in failing health since August of 2011, and surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Grimes was born May 9, 1947 in Waynesburg, Pa. a son of the late Halfred Byron Grimes and Faye Stockdale Grimes Hunnell and had resided in Jackson Twp. all his life.

He was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church at Holbrook, a member of the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330 and the U.M. W. Local 2300.

Mr. Grimes was a 1965 graduate of West Greene High School and attended the former Waynesburg College, and had participated in football and wrestling in both high school and college.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, was a former president of the West Greene Quarterback Club and was proud of coaching two championship midget football teams.

Mr. Grimes was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, where he served as a Specialist 5th class, with U.S. Army Security Forces and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct and Rifle Marksmanship Medals.

He was a former employee of Penn D.O.T. and Baltimore Life Insurance Company(Uniontown office), and was last employed as a certified electrician and mechanic with Alpha Natural Resources at the Cumberland Mine for 36 years prior to retiring in 2012.

On April 7, 1966 he married Gladys Irene (Renee) Boudreau who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Charles L. (Chip) Grimes, II of Munhall and Ian, husband of Amanda Grimes of Rogersville; a daughter, Autumn Grimes, companion of Eric Hoyt of Washington; three grandchildren, Clark Thomas and Betsy Joanne Grimes, and Isaac Scott Hoyt; a brother, H. Terry, husband of Carlyn Grimes of Holbrook; a sister-in-law, Linda Grimes of Holbrook; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother, Roger Wayne Grimes who died in 2002; his step-father, C. Lewis Hunnell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carl Fleissner of the Washington Hospice and Amedisys Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or memorial services.
