Charles E. Guthrie, 73, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died at 7:05 a.m. a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 in his home following a brief illness.Mr. Guthrie was born May 29, 1933 in Richhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa. a son of Freda Bell Cunningham Guthrie of Cameron, W.Va. and the late Raymond Howard "Bud" Guthrie and had resided in Canton, Oh. from 1956 until returning to Greene County in 1969.He was a 1953 graduate of Richhill High School and was a member of South Wheeling Baptist Church.Mr. Guthrie was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army as a SP-3 with the 578th Sig Co at Fort Meade, Md. and was awarded the National Defense Service and the Good Conduct medals He was a former member of the Wind Ridge Sportsman Club and was a former softball player. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards and raising beef cattle as long as his health permitted.Mr. Guthrie was last employed as a field forman with the former Carnegie Natural Gas Co. in Waynesburg for 26 years prior to retiring in 1995.On November 28, 1957, he married Norma Jean McClelland who survives.Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are a son, Randy, husband of Sandra Kay Guthrie of McMurray; a daughter, Sandra Jean, wife of Gary Wood of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Mary Beth Wood, Charles Andrew and Christine Nicole Guthrie; five sisters, Dixie Marlene, wife of Phillip Campbell, Sr. and Deanna Sue, wife of Keith Hooker, all of Wind Ridge, Betty, wife of Frederick Dishman of Moundsville, W.Va., Mildred Allen of Dunbar, W.Va. and Shirley, wife of Buck Gray of Salem, Oh.Deceased is a sister, Norma Elizabeth Fox.
